ImpART (Impact of Art)
ImpART is a signature program of the Metro-Manhattan (NY) Chapter, designed to nurture self-esteem, confidence, critical thinking and a positive self-image in youth through exposure to the performing and visual arts. Developed by our Arts facet, this curriculum connects students with powerful artistic experiences and opportunities to reflect, engage, and grow.
In collaboration with community-based organizations, high school scholars attend live performances and exhibits — ranging from plays and musicals to dance productions and visual art exhibitions. Each event is thoughtfully paired with a central theme and guided discussions. After each experience, students participate in reflective workshops led by chapter members and often joined by artists, curators, cast members, or producers.
ImpART not only encourages youth to explore the arts as a means of expression and personal development but also introduces them to potential career paths in creative fields. By highlighting diverse voices and role models in the arts, the program broadens horizons and cultivates cultural literacy and creativity in Harlem’s next generation.
