This year, A Harlem Declaration proudly celebrates an extraordinary group of honorees whose leadership, creativity, and commitment to service reflect the enduring spirit of Harlem and the values of The Metro-Manhattan Links, Incorporated. We honor the National Hockey League (NHL) for its commitment to expanding access to hockey through community-centered initiatives that have created meaningful opportunities for young people in Harlem and beyond; James Jeter, Morehouse College alumnus and Creative Director of Men’s Design at Ralph Lauren, whose work brings culture, heritage, and the richness of the Black experience into one of the world’s most iconic American brands; and Dara Douglas, Spelman College alumna and a leader in cultural storytelling and design at Ralph Lauren, whose work honors the artistry, history, and traditions of Black communities while preserving their stories for future generations. As proud graduates of two of our nation’s most storied HBCUs, James and Dara also embody the extraordinary legacy of these institutions in cultivating Black excellence, leadership, and creativity—an enduring legacy that reflects The Links, Incorporated’s commitment to championing HBCUs and expanding educational opportunity for generations to come. We also honor Dr. Lena Green, Executive Director of The HOPE Center at First Corinthian Baptist Church, whose transformative work has expanded access to culturally responsive mental health and wellness resources in Harlem.
Together, our honorees represent the power of access, representation, preservation, wellness, and service—using their respective platforms not simply to achieve, but to create pathways, tell our stories, strengthen our communities, and ensure that others have the opportunity to thrive. It is this spirit of purpose, legacy, and possibility that we are proud to celebrate at A Harlem Declaration.
